movies...escapism or memoirs?

Everyone watches movies, it seems sometimes that the majority of my life is spent staring at the silver screen, and at times being on it. I was just thinking about the reality of life and how it is a reflection of what we see in the movies. Or is it really that movies are our lives and movies are just the synopsis. Its interesting they way that these films influence us, mainly in that people like to emulate what they see, dress the way the stars do, or add certain catch phrases into their vocabulary...
i was just thinking about all these things and if they really effect our lives or if it is our lives that make these films possible. anyway it was really a passing thought, which eventually led me down the path of thinking about my life and its movie-esque moments.
